ELID (Endoscopic Lumbar Interbody Decompression)
Endoscopic Lumbar Interbody Decompression (ELID) is an ultra-minimally invasive spine procedure that uses a high-definition endoscope inserted through an incision smaller than one centimeter to directly visualize and decompress herniated discs, bone spurs, and thickened ligaments compressing spinal nerves.

How It Works
Through a sub-centimeter incision, a specialized endoscope is inserted into the spine. The surgeon visualizes the pathology in real-time on a high-definition monitor and uses microsurgical instruments to remove the compressing tissue — disc fragments, bone spurs, or ligament — while preserving healthy surrounding structures.
What to Expect
1-2 hour procedure at our ASC. Performed under light sedation or local anesthesia. The incision is smaller than one centimeter.
Recovery
Return home same day. Many patients are walking within hours. Resume light activities within 1-2 weeks. Full activity at 4-6 weeks.
Duration of Relief
ELID removes the tissue pressing on the nerve, so the decompression happens during the procedure itself.
