Kyphoplasty
Balloon kyphoplasty is a minimally invasive procedure that treats vertebral compression fractures by using an inflatable balloon to restore vertebral body height, then filling the cavity with bone cement (polymethylmethacrylate) to stabilize the fracture and relieve pain.

How It Works
Through a small incision, a trocar and balloon are inserted into the fractured vertebral body under fluoroscopic guidance. The balloon is inflated to restore height, creating a cavity that is then filled with bone cement[1] to stabilize the fracture.
What to Expect
45-60 minute procedure per level at our ambulatory surgery center. Performed under local anesthesia with sedation.
Recovery
Return home same day. Resume light activities within 24-48 hours. Pain relief often begins within the first day or two.
Duration of Relief
Permanent stabilization of the treated fracture. Does not prevent new fractures — osteoporosis treatment is recommended.
